President of the Republic Attends Regular Training for Special Operations and Leadership Development at Udbina Barracks
The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović visited on Wednesday the “Josip Jović” Barracks in Udbina. During his stay at the Marko Babić Leadership Development Centre of the Croatian Army Training and Doctrine Command “Fran Krsto Frankopan,” the President monitored regular training activities that are part of the leadership development training program, as well as basic special operations training activities conducted by the Special Forces Command.
Both units performed several tactical drills and tasks in accordance with their duties. The exercises included: quickly mastering a multi-purpose tactical tower; overcoming tactical obstacles in a tactical situation in a team; using military working dogs; martial arts and situational shooting with personal weapons. Croatian Army Commander Major General Boris Šerić and Special Forces Commander Brigadier General Perica Turalija presented to the President of the Republic the mission, structure and basic duties of their organizational units with an emphasis on the planning, preparation and execution of training.
The President’s visit to Udbina took place as part of his regular activities of staying informed and monitoring the conditions in headquarters, command posts, units, institutions and other divisions of the Croatian Armed Forces. While monitoring training activities at the Udbina Barracks, the President of the Republic emphasized the importance of conducting training activities that are well-organized and an approach from the individual to the entire unit, as this is a fundamental precondition for fully achieving operational capabilities.
Attending the training event alongside President Milanović at the Udbina Barracks were Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Viceadmiral Robert Hranj, the President’s Head of Office Orsat Miljenić, Adviser to the President for Defense and National Security Dragan Lozančić and State Secretary Zdravko Jakop from the Ministry of Defense.
