The President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović has received the Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg, with whom he discussed the latest developments in the world, the region, in Syria, as well as the migrant issue, but most importantly, as he emphasized in his statement, the presence and participation of Croatian troops in the mission in Afghanistan.

“With regard to the mission in Afghanistan and in light of the latest agreements reached between the United States and the Taliban, Croatia will follow the developments and slowly but definitely pull its troops from that mission. Of course, not overnight, because as you saw one of the first decisions I signed as President of the Republic referred to another full six-month deployment of a new contingent of Croatian soldiers in Afghanistan. Nevertheless, plans are being drawn up in the meantime to reduce and end our presence there relatively quickly. That’s our course,” President Milanović said after his meeting with the Secretary-General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg.
