President of the Republic Hosts Reception for Military and Police Commanders from Operation “Flash”
Marking the 25th anniversary of the Military and Police Operation “Flash”, the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović received the military and police commanders who participated in Operation “Flash”. In addition to them, the reception was attended by members of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces led by the Chief of the General Staff Admiral Robert Hranj and members of the Interior Ministry’s Police Directorate.
In his address the President of the Republic stated: “It will soon be twenty-five years since Croatia conducted its first major liberation operation and put an end to its four-year agony of being divided territorially and unable to function normally.” He added that the operation, relying exclusively on its own forces, was impeccable in the military-operational sense as well as in terms of respect for international law. “It was an excellent military and police operation in every aspect,” he noted.
“As long as I am President of the Republic, advancement in the army will be regular, there will be no daily politicking, a value system will exist, those values that made it possible for us to join NATO and later the EU. That is Western democracy, which has various tones and colours that are not all the same, but what we have in common with the countries with which we share security clauses and the article on collective defense in case of an attack is that we have free elections and respect certain criteria and human rights,” the President said. “Thank you for everything you have done for Croatia, thank you for your active contribution. Long live Croatia!” the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces stated.
Retired General Pavao Miljavac addressed the gathering on behalf of the members of the Croatian army who participated in the Military and Police Operation “Flash”, and on behalf of the members of the Ministry of the Interior who participated in Military and Police Operation “Flash” Mr. Zdravko Janić.
