The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović laid a wreath and lit a candle at the Voice of the Croatian Victims – Wall of Pain Memorial, the Tomb of the People’s Heroes and at the grave of unidentified victims of the Homeland War. He visited and lit a candle at the graves of former Prime Minister Ivica Račan and the first Croatian President Dr. Franjo Tuđman.

After paying tribute at Mirogoj cemetery, the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović commented the resignation of Attorney General Dražen Jelenić. He stated that all individuals who are members of Masonic organizations and hold a public office or are public officials, notably in the area of law enforcement, unnecessarily call into question their objectivity and their loyalty.

President Milanović stated that Jelenić’s resignation will be decided by those whose job it is to decide. “As a rule, it is very difficult but not impossible to relieve him from office, but the decision is up to those whose job it is”, President Milanović stated.

“My advice not just to Mr. Jelenić or to the one who will replace him, but to all prosecutors at all levels, judges, soldiers, police officers, those who, by law cannot be members of political parties, is to be very careful about such matters,” President MIlanović noted.
