President of the Republic Meets Leadership of the Alka Knights Society and Confirms Patronage of the 311th Sinjska Alka
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović today received the leadership from the Alka Knights Society of Sinj at the Office of the President of the Republic who presented the programme of this year’s 311th Sinjska Alka to President Milanović. The 311th Sinjska Alka will take place on 9 August in Sinj, and the President of the Republic accepted the traditional patronage of Sinjska Alka.
According to the president of the Alka Knights Society, Stipe Jukić, preparations for the Sinjska Alka are going according to plan. Today, the preparations of 30 Alka knights who have been invited to participate in the race this year has also begun. One of the topics discussed at the meeting with the President was the recently held assembly of the Viteški Alkar Society. As stated, certain changes were voted on in the management and Supervisory Board of the Society. The representatives of the Society also informed the President of the Republic about their international activities, emphasizing the renewal of cooperation with the association “Bokelj Navy” from Kotor, Montenegro.
In addition to the President of the Alka Knights Society of Sinj, Stipe Jukić, the meeting with President Milanović was attended by Alka duke Mario Šušnjara, Society’s secretary Ivan Nasić, Commander [alajčauš] Ivica Filipović Grčić, Chieftain [arambaša] Pavle Križanac, as well as Chieftain and member of the Society’s Court of Honour Tomislav Župić.
President Milanović was accompanied by the Adviser of the President for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić, and Adviser of the President for Local and Regional Self-government Relations Nikša Peronja.
