President of the Republic Promotes and Commends Members of the Croatian Armed Forces

The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović participated in a ceremony at the Dr. Franjo Tuđman Croatian Defense Academy marking Croatian Armed Forces Day and Croatian Army Day, on the occasion of which he promoted and commended members of the Croatian Armed Forces.

By the Constitutional and legal powers vested in him and on the proposal of the Ministry of Defense, the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces made decisions on the promotions and commendations of members of the Croatian Armed Forces on Croatian Armed Forces Day and Croatian Army Day.

On the occasion of Croatian Armed Forces Day and Croatian Army Day,

A total of 136 members of the Croatian Armed Forces received promotions.

Major general Mladen Fuzul is promoted to the rank of lieutenant general; brigadier general Tihomir Kundid, brigadier general Ivica Olujić, brigadier general Denis Tretinjak and brigadier general Krešo Tuškan are promoted to the rank of major general; captain Milan Žunić is promoted to the rank of rear admiral; colonel Tomislav Galić and colonel Željko Ljubas are promoted to the rank of brigadier general.     

A total of 21 lieutenant colonels are promoted to the rank of colonel (including four women).

Damir Babić, Tihomir Belas, Mirko Bošnjak, Tomislav Grozdanović, Željko Harapin, Darko Jurić, Robert Jurković, Jadranko Karlušić, Tomislav Kasumović, Šime Kevrić, Stipe Krajina, Anđelka Mikulić, Ferdo Mišulin, Zoran Pervan, Davor Pohovski, Milan Posel, Mira Skukan, Ivan Stipić, Jure Stipić, Rozalija Šapina and Željka Tubić received promotions.

Nineteen majors are promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel (including two women).

Fifty captains are promoted to the rank of major (including 10 women) and three lieutenants are promoted to the rank of lieutenant commander.

A total of 90 junior officers (including 16 women) are promoted to a higher rank.

Thirty-two first lieutenants (including five women) are promoted to the rank of captain and three lieutenants junior grade are promoted to the rank of lieutenant. 

Three second lieutenants are promoted to the rank of first lieutenant.

A total of 38 officers are promoted to the rank of junior officer (including five women).

A total of eight members of the Croatian Armed Forces received commendations.

For above-average results achieved in carrying out duties the following are commended by the Commander in Chief: colonel Ivan Jenjić, colonel Dragan Pondeljak, colonel Eduard Špoljarić, lieutenant colonel Željko Sklepić, captain Sanja Jurjako, master sergeant Nediljko Škaričić and sergeant first class Zoran Rajković.

On the occasion of Croatian Armed Forces Day and Croatian Army Day, the President’s envoy Adviser for Defense and National Security Dr. Dragan Lozančić laid joint wreaths at Mirogoj Cemetery at the “Voice of the Croatian Victims – Wall of Pain” memorial, at the central cross in the Alley of Fallen Croatian Defenders, at the tomb of the first President of the Republic of Croatia Dr. Franjo Tuđman and at the Common Grave to the Unidentified Victims of the Homeland War at the Crematorium.
