President of the Republic Receives Delegation of “Udruga Franak”
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received a delegation of “Udruga Franak” (Franak Association – association of Swiss franc loan holders), which included the Association’s head of office Sandra Žiga, the chairman of the Management Board Elvis Sudar, the delegate of the Association’s Assembly Vlado Iljkić and Association activist and ex Member of Parliament Goran Aleksić.
The members of Franak Association, which is engaged in the protection of users of financial services, acquainted President Milanović with the results of the activities they have undertaken thus far dealing with the protection of citizens who took out loans in Swiss francs. Moreover, they informed him of the problems these citizens further face since the banks have yet to compensate borrowers even though a final judgement has been issued in a class action lawsuit against the banks.
They explained that the Franak Association has been committed to assist citizens who are individually trying to get compensated, since they have not received support from State institutions. They have therefore requested the assistance of the President of the Republic because, in their view, the Office of the President of the Republic is the only institution on whose help the citizens can still count. The Franak Association has about 30,000 members who, according to Goran Aleksić, have been released from debt slavery, but have not yet been compensated, namely they have not received the extra money they were charged.
