President of the Republic Receives Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu who is paying an official visit to the Republic of Croatia.

President Milanović and Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu discussed bilateral relations between the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Turkey which were described as being friendly. An important topic of the meeting was the situation in South East Europe, with a focus on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this context, President Milanović reiterated the Republic of Croatia’s firm position, which deems that it is important to ensure full equality to all three constituent peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats.

The Turkish Foreign Minister once again expressed condolences for the victims of the earthquake in Banija, and the President of the Republic thanked Turkey for its prompt humanitarian assistance. The meeting also discussed economic cooperation between the two states and concluded that there is potential for strengthening economic relations.
