The President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović will host the 9th Trilateral meeting at which his guests will be the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor, and the Federal President of the Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen. The Trilateral meeting will take place on Brijuni Islands on Friday.

At this year’s Trilateral meeting, the topics that will be discussed are relations between the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Slovenia, and the Republic of Austria, and strengthening relations between the three states. Furthermore, the crisis resulting from the Russian aggression against Ukraine and its consequences for the European Union and its member states will be addressed. Focus will be on the situation in South East Europe, including the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and European prospects of South East Europe states.

The first Trilateral meeting of the presidents of the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Slovenia, and the Republic of Austria was held in Vienna in 2014. There it was agreed to make these meetings a tradition in order to exchange views on current issues in international relations, the situation in the EU and the region, and on relations between the three states. Since then these meetings have been held regularly each year, with the host alternating. President Milanović has participated until now in two meetings: 2020 in Vienna, Austria, and in 2021 in Kostanjevica na Krki in Slovenia.
