Strategic Project of Orahovica Presented to President Milanović
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today the leadership of the Town of Orahovica, who presented him with an infrastructure project for the construction of the western bypass of the town of Orahovica and a tunnel through Papuk mountain, which would connect the Virovitica-Podravina and Požega-Slavonia counties.
The delegation of Orahovica, led by Mayor Milan Babac, presented to President Milanović the strategic project for their town, which was officially launched at a meeting with representatives of “Hrvatske ceste d.o.o.” (Croatian State Roads) in early November. It was stated that the project is of exceptional importance for the town of Orahovica, Virovitica-Podravina County, and neighbouring Osijek-Baranja and Požega-Slavonia Counties.
The leadership of Orahovica emphasized the necessity of realizing this project, which, they said, will reap numerous benefits – from strengthening the economy and attracting investors, to developing tourism and the health potential of the entire area.
President Milanović recognized the importance of the project to build the western bypass of Orahovica, emphasizing its significance for traffic connections, the safety of residents, economic progress and the development of the area, and offered assistance within the scope of his authority.
At the meeting in the Office of the President of the Repubic besides the Mayor of Orahovica, Milan Babac, were the president of the Municipal Council, Ivančica Grgić; the vice-president of the Municipal Council Suzana Đebro Maričić; member of the Municipal Council, Radoje Medenica, and MP Mate Vukušić.
Alongside President Milanović were the Special Adviser to the President for the Economy Velibor Mačkić and the Adviser to the President for Local and Regional Self-Government Relations Nikša Peronja.
