The President of the Republic Expresses Support to the Institutions whose Activities Determined Possible Commission of Criminal Acts to the Detriment of Croatia

Regarding the investigation launched against the Croatian Armed Forces officer J.I. (54) who is under suspicion of committing a criminal act of espionage under Article 348, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović expresses his support to all institutions of the Republic of Croatia, first and foremost the Military Security and Intelligence Agency (VSOA), whose activities determined a possible commission of criminal acts to the detriment of the Republic of Croatia and have undertaken appropriate measures within their jurisdiction in order to identify possible perpetrators and prevent further criminal offences.

The President of the Republic is timely informed of the activities of the competent institutions undertaken in this case and expects an efficient investigation that will establish all relevant facts.

Every member of the Croatian Armed Forces must honourably, honestly and lawfully perform military duty, and if any violation of the law and sworn oath is established, it must be appropriately punished.
