We Must Work Tirelessy to Improve Status of Women
Although we live in times when women participate in all spheres of the public, business and political life, International Women’s Day is an occasion for us to recall that it was not always the case and that we still must work tirelessly to improve the status of women worldwide, and also in Croatian society.
The activism of the bravest, thanks to whom women around the world have dared to fight for their rights, has laid the foundations for equality, and International Women’s Day is marked to remember them. We must not stop until we make sure that, without exception, all women are entitled to the same rights as men, and this is a prerequisite for Croatia to develop into a modern, progressive and civilised society.
State institutions must provide solutions because it has been demonstrated that only an active role of the State can break down barriers preventing the achievement of full equality. Without the engagement of the State it is not possible to achieve full equality, especially not there where capital and profits have the final say.
As President I will talk about this and try to ensure that everything that the law says about women’s rights and what is stated in formal speeches indeed become reality and a true acquis of Croatian society. Congratulations to all the women in the Republic of Croatia on International Women’s Day.
