President Milanović Expresses Gratitude to Firefighters for Helping Citizens

On the occasion of International Firefighters’ Day, which is observed on St. Florian’s Day, their patron saint, the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met with a delegation of the Croatian Firefighting Association. The President congratulated and expressed his gratitude to the firefighters for all they are doing to help the citizens in dangerous circumstances and for their selfless assistance following the earthquake in Zagreb.

Chief Firefighting Commander Slavko Tucaković informed President Milanović about the new organizational structure of the Croatian Firefighting Association, with the association having been transformed, for the first time, into a body of public administration located in a single place. Mr. Tucaković said that the new organizational structure also included the main staff, which he assessed as very good, as evidenced by more than 4,800 interventions by firefighters after the earthquake in Zagreb, as well as their engagement in the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Along with the Croatian Armed Forces and the police, the Croatian Firefighting Association is today the strongest and best organized force in Croatia, said Mr. Tucaković.

Also participating at the meeting with President Milanović alongside the Chief Firefighting Commander Mr. Tucaković were the following persons: Chair of the National Committee for Prevention and Extinction of Fire and Chair of the Presidency of the Croatian Firefighting Association Ante Sanader; National Committee member of the Coordinating Group for Eastern Croatia Željko Palković; Honorary President of the Croatian Firefighting Association Franjo Gregurić; Commander of the City of Zagreb Public Fire Brigade Siniša Jembrih; National Committee member of the Coordinating Group for Istria, Lika and Primorje Slavko Gauš; National Committee member of the Coordinating Group for Dalmatia Ivo Franušić; National Committee member of the Coordinating Group for Croatia Proper Đuro Petrić; National Committee member of the Coordinating Group for North-western Croatia Nedeljko Vukalović; Deputy Chairs of the Presidency of the Croatian Firefighting Association Dino Kozlevac and Nikica Mužević; Chief Editor of the magazine Vatrogasni vjesnik Nina Francetić.
