The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović attended the opening ceremony of the Morosini-Grimani Castle in the Municipality of Svetvinčenat. In his address he recalled how the Castle grounds looked in 2009 when he first came for a visit. He said that he was fascinated with this area because he wasn’t aware that such a treasure existed here “robust and harsh like a huge canyon, yet attractive and special”.

“It didn’t look so dilapidated then, the difference now isn’t that apparent, much would escape the eye of the ordinary observer. It just shows how much effort and time has been invested, how much know-how, knowledge and patience it took to make a small wonder out of it. I remember my comment when I got inside and saw the grass. I then said that I hope they won’t pave it because it looked authentic. And it remained like that, the grass is still where it was originally”, the President said.

President Milanović congratulated the hosts on their efforts and commitment, underlining that new life was breathed into the timeless Castle where people, individuals and their families will come to get inspiration.

Following the opening ceremony, President Milanović, accompanied by the head of the Municipality of Svetvinčenat Dalibor Macan, toured the Interpretation Centre and the reconstructed Congress hall of the Morosini-Grimani Castle.
