Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Has Undertaken the Withdrawal Process of CAF Members from Iraq and Lebanon Taking into Account Security and Operational Conditions

Following media inquiries regarding the implementation of the Decision of the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović on the withdrawal of CAF members from missions in Iraq and Lebanon, we inform the public as follows:

The Decision of the President of the Republic is executive, and the Chief of the General Staff of the CAF is in charge of carrying it out.

The Chief of the General Staff of the CAF has acted in accordance with the Decision of the President of the Republic; he has undertaken the withdrawal process of members of the Croatian Armed Forces from Iraq and Lebanon taking into account security and operational conditions; he informs the President of the Republic about everything on a regular basis.

After the Decision on the withdrawal of CAF members will be carried out in its entirety, the public will be informed of it.

The President of the Republic has made the Decision on the withdrawal of CAF members from missions in Iraq and Lebanon in accordance with his constitutional and legal powers, and the Decision is based on a security assessment of the situation in the area where the soldiers are stationed.

As he has thus far, the President of the Republic will also in the future take primarily into account the safety of Croatian soldiers and national interests, respecting the Croatian Constitution and laws.
