President Milanović Meets with Members of the Exporters’ Club: Only Competitive and Technologically Advanced Exports Can Drive Growth
“We produce little and export little. The total nominal value of exports of goods and services is €46 billion, which is half of Croatia’s nominal GDP. I stress ‘nominal’ because nominal figures and purchasing power are not the same, and GDP measured by purchasing power parity should certainly be given priority. Looking at absolute figures, all indicators have risen significantly since joining the EU. However, we remain equally or similarly unbalanced, equally dependent on foreign knowledge and services, and there are no signs of this changing significantly,” said the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović at a meeting with members of Lider’s Exporters’ Club held on Tuesday at the Office of the President.
President Milanović, Together with the President of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar, Visits a Slovenian Minority School in Rijeka
“I am particularly pleased to be here today for reasons related to relations between Croatia and Slovenia, Croats and Slovenians. It was wonderful to hear the children speak Slovenian, almost without an accent to my ear. It is an elective subject, and this is a pleasant surprise for me,” said the President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović after visiting Pećine Elementary School in Rijeka together with the President of the Republic of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar. President Pirc Musar is on a one-day working visit to Croatia, during which she visited the Slovenian national minority in Rijeka.
President Milanović: Elections showed that Hungary is a functional democracy; Orbán’s opponent achieved a landslide victory
“These elections showed that Hungary is, and this is all that concerns me, a functional electoral democracy. The man lost the elections decisively; his opponent achieved a landslide victory — which means the system is functioning at that level. These other issues are Hungary’s internal matters, and just as I do not like anyone from the outside interfering in Croatia, I do not do that to others,” said the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović, commenting on the parliamentary elections in Hungary. He added that he had not spoken with the outgoing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who lost the elections.
