Merry Christmas to all the citizens of the Republic of Croatia who celebrate the most joyous Christian holiday according to the Julian calendar! This great holiday, which invites believers to spend it with family and loved ones, is being celebrated in difficult circumstances this year and is especially difficult for our citizens in the earthquake-stricken areas and towns of Bania.

Let us lend a charitable hand, give hope and demonstrate love toward every human being as the most important message of Christmas to all those who are not able to celebrate the joy of Christmas in their homes and with their families. May this holiday be one more opportunity to show sincere solidarity to our citizens in distress, which can rekindle optimism and faith that calmer and safer times are ahead.

Tolerance and mutual understanding are essential at the present time. The humanity and big heart that Croatia demonstrated in the most difficult times give hope that together in harmony and responsibly we shall build a good society that will be the pride of all Croatian citizens.

Once again I wish a Merry Christmas to all believers with the traditional greeting “Mir Bozji, Hristos se rodi!
