The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović visited today the town of Kastav, where he attended the traditional “Pozdrav Beloj nedeji” programme at the “Bela nedeja” cultural event and visited the exhibition “Vladimir Nazor in Kastav” by Ervin Dubrović at the Holy Trinity Gallery.

The “Bela nedeja” event in Kastav takes place from the 3rd to the 5th of October, offering a rich three-day programme dedicated to autumn, new wine, gastronomy, music, and tradition. Today’s traditional “Pozdrav Beloj nedeji” programme featured the Spinčići Music Society, the Kastav Volunteer Fire Department, musicians playing traditional sopile, Klaudije Dunato and Saša Popović, the Učka Cultural and Artistic Society, and pupils of the “Milan Brozović” Elementary School, with addresses by the Mayor of Kastav and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Prefect Ivica Lukanović.

Following the programme, President Milanović, accompanied by his hosts, toured the fair and visited the exhibitors, as well as the exhibition “Vladimir Nazor in Kastav” by Ervin Dubrović at the Holy Trinity Gallery. The exhibition was organized to mark the 150th anniversary of Nazor’s birth and focuses on the ten years that the Croatian writer spent in the town.

“Bela nedeja” is a centuries-old tradition in the Kastav area, held on the first Sunday of October to celebrate the beginning of autumn and the arrival of new wine, with traditional products and crafts on offer, accompanied by cultural and entertainment programmes. President Milanović is once again the patron of Kastav’s largest and oldest event dedicated to new wine. Thanks to its centuries-old tradition, “Bela nedeja” has become one of the most recognizable symbols of the identity of the Kastav area.

Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for the Economy Velibor Mačkić accompanied President Milanović.
