President Milanović Discusses Assistance in Assessing Damage and Needs in Earthquake-Stricken Areas with World Bank Representatives

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović held a meeting with representatives of the World Bank Office in the Republic of Croatia. The delegation of the World Bank Office for Croatia and Slovenia included Country Manager for Croatia and Slovenia Elisabetta Capannelli and Senior Economist of the World Bank Office for Croatia and Slovenia Josip Funda.

The meeting discussed past and present activities of the World Bank in Croatia and its commitment and technical assistance to the Republic of Croatia in preparing for a rapid damage and needs assessment in the aftermath of the earthquake in Zagreb. Namely, after the earthquake in Zagreb, the World Bank provided technical assistance in drafting the document “Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment” (RDNA 2020), which was an important document for the mobilization of 683.7 million euros from the European Union Solidarity Fund.

At the meeting with President MIlanović it was stated that the World Bank is preparing technical assistance and a rapid damage and needs assessment in the aftermath of the earthquake in Sisak-Moslavina County and is willing to provide further technical assistance as support for the preparation of a strategy for the revitalization of the earthquake-stricken areas of Sisak-Moslavina County.
