President Milanović Meets with Croatian Association of Technical Culture Celebrating 75 Years of Activities
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received representatives of the Croatian Association of Technical Culture on the occasion of the celebration of 75 years of organized activities in the field of technical culture, which will be held in September under the patronage of the President of the Republic.
Attending the meeting in the Office of the President of the Republic were the president of the Croatian Association of Technical Culture Damir Tomić, vice president Ivan Jurić, general secretary Zdenka Terek and deputy general secretary Hrvoje Nakić, who presented the Association and its activities to the President.
The Croatian Association of Technical Culture is an umbrella association of technical culture in the Republic of Croatia aimed at the development and promotion of technical culture, which currently assembles 18 national associations of technical culture, 19 county and 35 city associations of technical culture. Special emphasis was given to the extra-curricular and extra-educational activities and education that the Association, its members and communities offer children and youth, and the popularization of technical culture.
To this effect they underlined how education in various activities of technical culture develops innovation and creativity in children and youth, helps them in their choice of vocational or technical schools, technical faculties and professions, which is the cornerstone of entrepreneurship and the country’s economic development. The following programmes of the Association are featured: competitions of young technicians, group competitions in modeling, “Robokup” robotics competition, out of the box creative-technical workshops for children and youth, summer and spring school of technical activities, field work, STEM workshops for secondary school students, student practicums, technical culture festival and the “ABC tehnike” (ABC of Technology) magazine.
Attending the meeting alongside President Milanović were the Adviser to the President for Education Jadranka Žarković and the Commissioner of the President for Sports Željko Jovanović.
