President Milanović Meets with Delegate of the President of the Republic of Chile in Antofagasta Region

The President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović started his Official visit to the Republic of Chile today in Antofagasta, city and Region of Chile of the same name, by meeting with the Delegate of the President of the Republic of Chile in Antofagasta Region Karen Behrens.

President Milanović and the Delegate of the President of the Republic of Chile discussed the position and role of Croats in Antofagasta Region. The Delegate of the President of the Republic of Chile highlighted the large contribution of Croats to the development of this region in the past and today. She added that the Croats and their descendants enjoy a good reputation and are influential. It is estimated that Croatian descendants make up approximately one quarter of the residents of Antofagasta. They also discussed the functioning of the regional and local government in Antofagasta.

Attending today’s meeting alongside Delegate Karen Behrens were regional representatives of state ministries; the General Secretariat of the Government, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Mining, the Ministry of Housing, the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Energy.

In President Milanović’s delegation at the meeting in the Office of the Delegate of the President of Chile in Antofagasto Region were the Head of the Office of the President of the Republic Orsat Miljenić, the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Foreign and European Policy Neven Pelicarić, Member of the Croatian Parliament and Head of the Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group Croatia-Chile Natalija Martinčević and the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Chile Mira Martinec.
