President Milanović Meets with President of Costa Rica Carlos Alvarado Quesada

On the eve of the United Nations General Assembly the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović held a bilateral meeting with the President of the Republic of Costa Rica Carlo Alvarado Quesada.

The two presidents discussed ways to advance bilateral cooperation and further enhance the level of diplomatic relations between the two states. Presidents Milanović and Quesada agreed that the small and well organized Croatian community in Costa Rica, particularly in the city of Punta Arenas, contribute to the good relations between Croatia and Costa Rica.

Furthermore, they talked about the COVID-19 pandemic and ways to solve its ensuing problems. The two presidents also discussed the protection of human rights both in the context of the fight against COVID-19 and through multilateral cooperation. Namely, Croatia and Costa Rica co-chaired today a ministerial meeting in the UN on the role of women in the prevention of mass crimes as a contribution to this kind of multilateral cooperation.
