President Milanović Meets with Wartime Minister of Interior Ivan Jarnjak and Discusses Role of Interior Ministry Members in Homeland War

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received the wartime Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia Ivan Jarnjak and his inner circle of associates. Attending the meeting with President Milanović besides Ivan Jarnjak were Zlatko Gledec, Smiljan Reljić, Joško Morić, Marijan Benko, Željko Sačić and Katica Osrečki.

At the meeting with President Milanović there was talk about the role of members of the Ministry of the Interior during the Homeland War, their participation in military and police operations as well as in the peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danube region. The topic of the meeting included the marking of major events from the Homeland War. Wartime Interior minister Jarnjak and his inner circle of associates pledged to define precisely the state protocol for observing such events. Moreover, they discussed the merit of members of the Interior Ministry, and the need to honour their participation in the Homeland War through the awarding of recognitions.

President Milanović agreed that Interior Ministry members played a major role in the Homeland War and that it is necessary to honour their contribution to the creation of the Croatian state. Furthermore, President Milanović considers it important to define precisely the state protocol for marking important dates in Croatian history.

Alongside President Milanović was the Special Adviser for Homeland War veterans Marijan Mareković.
