“This is a terribly serious matter and must be a matter for the courts. This is evidence, not an essay or fiction, this happened. Based on similar circumstances, the former mayor of Zagreb was detained for months. These are unlawful actions, material evidence in court. We know what the judicial practice has been in the past 15 years, and we demand an answer”, the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović told journalists when asked to comment on the latest affair in the Government, namely, text messages favouring certain individuals to work in Hrvatske šume (Croatian Forests).

“To me this sounds like a hijacking of the state. Someone hijacks the state and considers every public company its fief where they can install their serfs. That’s how it’s always been in Croatia. I hoped and believed that we progressed, but we haven’t, people consider that it belongs to them”, President Milanović added, underlining that, unfortunately, this is the main topic in Croatia at the moment.

“This is the main topic in Croatia at the moment and must get its conclusion in the public and in the courts. No one is pointing a finger at the Prime Minister saying he was the one that did it, but let’s see if he supported it and tolerated it systematically”, President Milanović said in concluding his statement.
