President Milanović Receives Award Winning Students in Robotics World Championship

At the beginning of the new school year, the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received representatives of the Croatian Robotics Association and the award winning students who achieved excellent results at one of the world’s largest robotics championships “RoboCup”.

Participating in the “RoboCup” championship that was held online due to the coronavirus pandemic was a total of 148 teams from 27 countries. They informed President Milanović that the Croatian teams who participated in the Junior categories “Rescue Line” and “Rescue Maze” are world vice-champions, and the team in the Soccer Lightweight Superteam category came in third. The award winning students also presented their works to President Milanović, and boasted of their advanced robotic solutions that have been recognized at the aforementioned championship.

Representatives of the Croatian Robotics Association acquainted President Milanović with their activities and their efforts in preparing Croatian students for world championships in robotics. They underlined that Croatian students achieve regularly excellent results. The Croatian Robotics Association is the national umbrella robotics association in the area of technical culture, and their main goal is the popularization of robotics and strengthening the resources of their member associations.

At the meeting with President Milanović were the award winning young roboticians Juraj Kolarić, student at the Electromechanical School Varaždin, students at the Fifteenth Gymnasium Zagreb Jakov Džijan, Antonio Dijanić, Dora Dijanić and Ivan Dijanić, students at the Technical School Ruđer Bošković Zagreb Jerko Ćubić and Fran Plevko as well as their mentors and representatives of the Croatian Robotics Association Željko Krnjajić, Jelka Hrnjić and Ivica Kolarić as well as a representative of the parents Lovrek Dijanić.

Alongside President Milanović was the Adviser to the President for Education Jadranka Žarković.
