President Milanović Receives Representatives of International Women’s Club Zagreb on its 30th Anniversary

On the 30th anniversary of its work, the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met today with the representatives of the International Women’s Club Zagreb, a multicultural club that offers women who have come to Croatia to live and work the opportunity to connect, network, and socialize.

Kornelia Žerić, President of the International Women’s Club Zagreb; Mirta Livingston, Vice President; Suarna Čolak, Christmas Bazaar Coordinator; Alina Gishyan, Artistic Group Coordinator; Olivera Nohren Veselinović, founder of the International Women’s Club Zagreb; and member Yurisley Leal González introduced President Milanović to the work of the Club, which was founded in 1993. They mentioned that the Club is a non-profit organization and had over 140 members from almost 45 countries last year.

When discussing the activities organized for Club members, they highlighted various philanthropic events, workshops, cultural activities, day trips, art courses, and visits to local companies and organizations. Particularly emphasized was the Christmas Bazaar, a collaborative effort between the Club and the Office of the President of the Republic for several years under the President’s patronage. This traditional charity event, integral to Zagreb’s Advent festivities, has been held since the Club’s inception on the first Sunday of Advent. Profits generated from the International Women’s Club Zagreb’s activities are donated to various charitable organizations across Croatia. The representatives stated that since its establishment, the Club has raised over five million kunas for charitable purposes in Croatia.

President Milanović was accompanied at the meeting by Neven Pelicarić, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Foreign and European Policy, and Melita Mulić, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society.
