The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović visited the Centre of Knowledge of Međimurje County in the scope of which he toured the Međimurje Palace of Tourism, the Development and Educational Centre for the Metal Industry – Metal Centre and the Technological-Innovative Centre of Međimurje.

After attending a presentation of works and projects in Međimurje County, President Milanović reminded that the Centre complex used to be barracks built more than one hundred years ago for the needs of one empire. The complex was subsequently taken over by Croatia who does not need such a huge military base, the President said in his statement to the media.

He noted that the complex was handed over to the local authorities, namely the County, in 2007 “although not quite free of charge. They had to do something in exchange, which, in my opinion, is an example how things should not be done. Then part of it is forgiven, and it is a good thing that it is forgiven by the state because the result is visible. This is just a small example of how to approach ideas in a hardworking, responsible and constructive way, because ideas and good organization are necessary to obtain European money, this hasn’t fallen from the sky”, President MIlanović stated.

After his stay at the Centre of Knowledge of Međimurje County, President Milanović toured the “Centrometal Heating Technique“ company and toured the Parag Roma community in the Municipality of Nedelišće.
