The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met with the representatives of the Inter-University Centre Dubrovnik, its Director General Professor Krunoslav Pisk and Executive Secretary Nada Bruer Ljubišić.

The representatives of the Inter-University Centre Dubrovnik (IUC) acquainted President Milanović with the work and significance of this independent international organization, which has been in continuous operation for almost 50 years. They underscored the importance of the IUC for the Croatian academic and scientific community and its international dimension as a unique global association of universities. The Inter-University Centre Dubrovnik is tasked with organizing and implementing graduate and doctoral study programs, as well as scientific conferences with the participation of professors and students from universities across the world. It was also mentioned at the meeting that about 30% of the student body is composed of students from Croatian universities and research institutes.

Furthermore, the representatives pointed out that the Inter-University Centre Dubrovnik is facing problems because of its legal status. It is currently registered as an association in the Republic of Croatia, which is an obstacle to securing constant funding. They asked the President of the Republic for his understanding and assistance in resolving the matter, due to which the Ministry of Science and Education has already been contacted by the IUC representatives.
