President Milanović Receives Delegation of Association of Homeland War Veterans of 114th Croatian Army Brigade

Today in the Office of the President, the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received a delegation of the 114th Croatian Army brigade’s Association of Homeland War Veterans. Attending the meeting were the president of the Association retired captain Ante Banović-Krilnik, former commander of the 114th Croatian Army brigade Major general Slaven Zdilar and commander of the 114th Croatian Army brigade’s 3rd battalion retired captain Stipe Ćoso.

At the meeting they discussed the past activities and future plans of the Association of Homeland War Veterans of the 114th Croatian Army brigade. The Association members informed President Milanović of the problems the Association and its members face. The Association has a membership of 300.

Former commanders of the brigade and members of the Association presented their brigade  to President Milanović and told him that it was founded on 1 June in Kaštel-Sućurac from the ‘shipyard battalion’ of the Split shipyard and existing companies, and later on from other enterprises of Split, Solin and Kaštela, the reason why they were nicknamed the ‘workers’ brigade. The unit played a major role in many Croatian battlefields during the Homeland War, it was engaged on the South battlefield, and participated in operations Peruča, Maslenica, Velebit, Winter ’94, Summer ’95 and Storm. During the war campaign more than 7,900 members passed through the unit, 88 of them were killed and several hundred were wounded. 

Alongside President Milanović was the Special Adviser to the President for Homeland War Veterans Marijan Mareković.
